Visiting the pig who will take up half the space in my freezer each fall is, I will admit, rather unorthodox and is not something I would recommend for a family outing. But paying a call of respect and knowing that what you will soon be consuming had a pleasant life — and ending for that matter — actually makes for a very rewarding time. Read more…

  1. I wouldn’t have boiled the head either. I bet you make marvelous meals out of the pig, though. Do you ever have pig roasts outside, the kind where the whole pig is on a skewer (probably not the right word) all night?
